AEW President and CEO Tony Khan took part in a media call this past Thursday to promote and hype this coming Sunday night’s AEW All Out PPV Event and during the media call, Khan revealed that ROH Women’s World Champion Mercedes Martinez is currently out of in-ring action due to an injury, but the AEW CEO didn’t reveal the nature and severity of her injury or how long she will be out of action. There’s no word yet on how the current ROH Women’s World Champion suffered the injury or how long she will be on the shelf, but updates will be provided once it has been made available.
Martinez made her promotional All Elite Wrestling debut on an episode of Dynamite this past February, when she lost a one-on-one match to Thunder Rosa. Martinez would become the Interim ROH Women’s World Champion at ROH’s Supercard Of Honor XV PPV Event last April 1st when she defeated Willow Nightingale in an Interim ROH Women’s World Championship Match as then-ROH Women’s World Champion Deonna Purrazzo couldn’t defend that night. Martinez then defeated Purrazzo on the May 4th episode of AEW Dynamite to become the Undisputed ROH Women’s World Champion.
Mercedes Martinez last competed for ROH, when she successfully retained her title over Serena Deeb at the Death Before Dishonor Event on July 23rd. Martinez last appeared on AEW TV, when she would defeat J-Rod on the July 19th episode of AEW Dark. Her last pro wrestling match took place on Thursday, July 28th in Honolulu, Hawaii, when she would beat Jennacide to become the brand-new Unify Kaimana Women’s Champion for the UCE Wrestling promotion.
