Chris Jericho Provides An Update On How Long Santana Is Out

All Elite Wrestling has been having their top stars suffering an injury and being placed on the shelf for the past several months and that includes AEW World Champion CM Punk and Bryan Danielson. Santana is the latest to suffer an injury and be put on the sidelines as during the Blood & Guts AEW Dynamite episode, the former Inner Circle member hurt his left knee just minutes after entering the brutal and viscous Blood & Guts Matchup and he would apparently blow out his knee as well. Santana’s unfortunate injury would take place while he was looking to hit his opponent with a uranage, but his knee buckled and he would fall under his own weight.

Top AEW Star and professional wrestling legend Chris Jericho recently appeared on the Geordie podcast and provided an update on how long Santana is expected to be out of action. Jericho said that Santana screwed up his knee by doing a simple uranage/rock bottom maneuver and that has resulted in him being out of in-ring action for the next 8 months.

This is what Chris Jericho said:

“He f*cked up his knee from doing a simple Rock Bottom.” “That’s not on top of a cage, that’s not falling off a cage, that’s not getting hit with a barbed wire bat, or whatever. It’s doing a wrestling move, and he’s out eight months.”

Santana suffered a stage two tear in his MCL back in May of 2019 while he was still working in IMPACT Wrestling and that injury kept him out of action for a number of weeks. Santana made his AEW debut at the 2019 All Out PPV Event, when he and Ortiz appeared following a ladder match for the AAA World Tag Team Championships, beating up both The Lucha Brothers and The Young Bucks. Santana then made his AEW in-ring debut, when he and Ortiz teamed with Chris Jericho to take on Kenny Omega and The Young Bucks on the premiere episode of AEW Dynamite in 2019.
